A Coffee Shop Kind of Day

As the fall season is coming to an end, there are a lot of pieces to add to your wardrobe. This past year, I've tried to learn as much as I can about layering. I'm more mindful about the pieces I pair together to make the whole look feel complete.
Today while making a run to my local coffee shop to try out some new winter flavors, I paired together one of my favorite graphic t-shirts with some destroyed black skinny jeans. To contrast all of the black colors in this look, I wore some brown oxfords and my brand new Brown Button Coat, thanks to SheIn.

I like this piece because it can be worn as a light layer depending on the weather. Today, while it was a little bit cool outside, I wore it as a jacket with my outfit, but when it gets colder I can see myself adding on a grey trench coat and black beanie to balance out all of the blacks, browns and greys.

Since I go to school in Pennsylvania, I know I will definitely have to layer up this winter. However, if you go to school where there really isn't a winter, this jacket is an awesome in-between weather piece to play up the fall weather.

With all that in mind, go check out your local cafe's winter-y flavors! Today I got a vanilla spice latte!

Abandoned Prison in York, PA

York County Prison - York, Pennsylvania
The current structure of this prison was designed in 1906. There are 5 eerie floors and a roof with a fantastic view of the city! The prison was built by architect B. F. Willis, who created a trap door where hangings were executed.
Several bad rumors spread around about the prison in its later years. Stories of racial segregation among prisoners were reported, bed bugs were rumored, and the only meat that was served during a two-week period was roadkill that was picked up by prison guards. The prison was closed in 1979, and it has been a point of interest ever since. The property was purchased by John and Joyce Gearhart in 1982.
Here are some pictures from the outside. All entrances are either closed off with bars, or welded shut.

There was a secret entrance that my friend and I located. We got in and were immediately in awe. Everything about the building was spooky. The floors were either old and rotting or just plain dirt. The walls were rotted as well. The patterns and textures inside of the building were very peculiar.

Nearly all of the windows were punched out and broken. It was an interesting view.

Most of the floors looked like this. I guess since they have been untouched for nearly 40 years, it makes sense that they would look like that.
The ceiling in one of the rooms
Rusted door on the first floor. Beautiful color scheme.
Giant hole in the wall next to the front door.
 Texture of the walls.
Texture on one of the ceilings.
 Ceiling texture
Antique chair left alone in a corner.
Knocked out window in a dark room.

The door to what looked like an old utility cabinet.
The stairs to the main hallway. There was only one set of stairs in the middle of the building.
Here's a picture of the actual jail cells. They were identical on either side of each floor on all 3 floors that the cells were on. The rust was fascinating.
Close-up picture of the cell door. On the inside there were tiny toilets that didn't look large enough for a toddler to sit on.
 Interesting pattern on each cell.

Don't look down when walking on one of these walkways.
I wonder how long these windows have been open!

I love how intricate the texture is. You really don't see that often!
View approaching the staircase. Pay attention to the details on each stair and the rotting cells on either side.
Spookiest shot of the whole day.
 Same.
We come in peace. Apparently many people like to go up to the top floor and spray paint all over the walls.

The roof had an awesome view of downtown York. You can see the York Hotel and "On Top of the World". It was scary to get up that high though, there was about a 30 feet climb up a shaky old ladder. Not the safest idea but why not!

Downtown York PA!!

Today my friends and I explored downtown York after we finished our last day of classes!!
Jackie, Kayla and I
Some pictures of Graffiti nearby our school!

We found a parking garage and found our way to the top and there was an amazing view of the city!! It was a beautiful day out and I could see everything miles away!
I love downtown York. There's always something to do whether it's walking into cute little boutiques or finding a quick bite to eat. Usually people only go downtown to eat at White Rose Bar and Grill,  but there is so much more to York than that! I definitely didn't even cover as much as there is in York but my friends and I did catch a lot of good places in the few hours that we were downtown.
Here's a cool gate downtown in York on George Street.
Outside of the York Central Market! The Central Market is the coolest lil food shop around. It's only open a few days a week but every time that I've visited it, I've enjoyed it. There's a pickle shop inside that my friends have visited and they brought back horseradish pickles. They were so spicy but so good and I can't wait to go and get them for myself because they were strangely addicting.
Sunrise soap company is always a favorite of mine. I got a free sample of soap today and I'm probably gonna stop by and get more soap before I go home for summer! The place has such a cool vibe and all of the employees are super friendly!!
Sick door on Market Street. York has a lot of cool stoops and doors at different houses. Be careful though because York is one of those cities that is beautiful but if you take one wrong turn you're going to be in a sketchy neighborhood.
Daren from DKMI's Best Hotdogs downtown gave me a free lemonade to blog about his company!! The lemonade was delicious and very comparable to Chick-fil-A! He was a sweet guy!! His hot dog stand was on the corner of George Street and Market Street.
Had to get a pic with these ridiculous glasses
We visited this sick vintage shop downtown that Kayla showed us! They sold all kinds of things from clothes to lamps to couches.
Groovy vintage items!! Love the lamps
Kayla trying out some of the vintage cameras
In my future home I want a wall full of mirrors.

These couches weren't even that expensive but they gave off a cool 70's vibe
Jackie looking at some records! Classic Jackie holding a Diet Coke
That's it!! Comment if you have any questions or comments!! Check out my posts on instagram @leytonpee for any pics I post about my adventures!
